NEWS NEW, Tru-Fit ‘LOW SHEAR’ CONNECTORS DESIGNIMPROVES PAINT SPRAY, FINISHING EFFICIENCY Hosco Fittings, LLC, Livonia, MI, a leading manufacturer of paint and finish delivery systems and components, has introduced a new family of stainless steel Tru-Fit Low Shear paint line connection fittings. The newly designed Tru-Fit fittings enhance finish quality, reduce system pressure loss, and improve the ease and ergonomics of installation procedures while furthering overall operational safety. These benefits are all the result of incorporating a tapered opening at the end of the fittings, aligning with a compatible taper on the mating connection fitting. Whereas previous designs were typically just a straight bore to taper connection, the new taper-to-taper configuration eliminates the blunt end or ‘shelf’ surfacea dead space where paints could agglomerate and potentially create defects on the paint surface. The new, Tru-Fit ‘Low-Shear’ concept with unrestricted flow helps metallic paint finishes retain their color and luster when applied, while the design also bolster’s Hosco’s commitment to its exclusive “cavity-free” design in its other componentssmooth, unrestricted flow passageways throughout the line that eliminate collection points for dirt and accumulation of dry paint. In addition to paint lines and finishing systems, the new stainless steel cavity-free fittings with the elimination of such collection points for contaminates also means the products are ideal for food/consumables processing where cleanliness is critical and applications requiring frequent cleaning, changeovers and sanitizing. The Tru-Fit new lineup of Low Shear fittings makes installation and servicing easy by reducing the required forces to install the units by up to one half. As paint line access points and automated zones become smaller and more compact, the ease with which Hosco fittings can be installed is an important element to the paint system’s performance. Additionally, this helps assure a leak free joint throughout the service life of the equipment. With the increased ease of installation and the benefit of the “low shear” design, system pressures can be reduced. Typically, as pressure drops, or delta P in the system components increase, it causes increased overall system operating pressures, resulting in every component in the Paint Circulation and Delivery line having to work harder, incurring higher levels of wear and tear. By reducing the pressure loss in the Paint Station Drop, the ‘Low Shear’ fitting design allows operation at lower pump pressures, thus enhancing safety, decreasing maintenance, repair and replacement of components, and lessening calibration needs. Hosco manufactures a full line of delivery systems components for paint and finish application, including specialty & standard fittings, spray gun accessories, filters, swivels and extensions, paint and air hose lines along with hose connectors, clips and spring guards, tees and manifold fittings, check and ball valves, and bulkheads. These products feature a “cavity-free” design that eliminates collection points for dirt to deliver contaminate-free paint.
